If Change Was Easy

If Change Was Easy

If change was easy, there would be no growth and transformation wouldn’t be possible.

The butterfly doesn’t complain when it struggles to break through the chrysalis. In fact, it’s the struggle that completes the growth for the butterfly.

If you helped pull the butterfly out of the chrysalis before it was ready, before it has struggled it’s way through, it wouldn’t be strong enough to survive in the wild.

So, if change is hard for you right now, it’s supposed to be. It’s supposed to challenge you, it’s supposed to be uncomfortable, it might even be painful.

You might even be breaking open, so you can grow back stronger, wiser and more capable than you ever knew you were. .

So keep leaning in, embrace your change and everything that comes with it. Because the bigger the challenge, the bigger the growth. And the growth is so worth it all.

Hope Is The Light

Hope Is The Light

Hope is the light we hold onto when we’re stuck in the darkness. It’s the unshakeable belief that things will be different even if you can’t see it yet.

And it’s what we can share with one another, as if passing a torch, sharing a lit candle with those who can’t see the light.

Resilience Is Facing Adversity

Resilience Is Facing Adversity

Resilience isn’t something you get just because you want it.

Resilience is more something that you get and earn when you have the courage to face your adversities and your challenges head on. You don’t avoid them, you don’t try to take the short cut and you don’t blame them on someone else.

Resilience is something you get when you are willing to walk the path along your learning and growth that lies within your challenges.

It takes courage to take responsibility for your part and look at what you can do to overcome the challenge you find yourself in.

And when you do that, you learn what you’re capable of and you grow as a result. And next time a challenge comes along, it will still be hard, but your resilience muscle will be stronger and you will trust yourself just a little more that you’ll be able to find a way through.

Letting Go of the Past

Letting Go of the Past

Letting go of the past

The process of personal growth involves a great deal of letting go of the past and things that happened to us or around us when we were kids.

It’s quite amazing how it can impact us well into our adulthood. We underestimate the impact and often hope that it’s far enough in the past to not affect us anymore.

But the thing is, no matter how long ago your childhood is now, you made up beliefs about yourself, who you are in this world, what you’re worth, what might be your fault, what you have to do for love and belonging etc. These are your beliefs and the negative ones you form about yourself are your limiting beliefs.

And we carry these into adulthood. So much of my work with clients is looking at these beliefs, learning how we came up with them, and then creating new ones that serve us better.

The poem above is for children and adult children of alcoholics. We carry the burden of somehow feeling responsible for helping our parents and carry a feeling of guilt, shame and failure when we’re not successful (which is inevitable for a child to not be able to fix their parents). This later in life turns into a behaviour of taking responsibility for other’s lives, other’s outcomes, other’s problems. And so the burden we carry gets heavier and heavier.

My work involves removing that burden, cutting the ties to people’s past so they’re not carrying the weight of that guilt anymore. I help people finally be free to step into their own light, unburdened, so they can be free to truly be their best and live that life they imagined. .

Stillness Helps You Heal

Stillness Helps You Heal

Presence and stillness provide an opening to a part of ourselves that wants to be healed.

But this opening can be painful, and that’s why most people avoid it. And so it’s much easier to be busy, occupy yourself with distractions and avoid the stillness.

But eventually this strategy catches up with you because the pain gets stronger, the armour gets heavier to carry and it seems that you can’t avoid it any longer. Something has to change because what’s currently going on isn’t sustainable.

It could be your job, the way you show up in your job, who you are in your relationships or your lack of relationships, the toxicity with people in your life or merely the dissatisfaction of your own life.

When you allow yourself to be still and when you have the courage to let the thoughts rush in, that is when you start the process of allowing yourself to heal, let go, learn and grow.

In my workshops and through my one-on-one coaching, I use meditation, nature and visualization as a way to provide stillness, to stop the wheels and finally let the thoughts rush in. It’s through this and a compassionate yet powerful coaching process where people truly experience transformation. It’s through the letting go in order to make room for the new where people discover their true authentic selves and are inspired to show up in that every single day.

Insight as a Leadership Skill

Insight as a Leadership Skill

A key skill for leaders is Insight, the ability to share a purpose or vision and inspire their teams to achieve goals in support of that purpose or vision.

As a leader, you may have a strong vision for what you want to achieve but if you lack the interpersonal or coaching skills required to inspire, motivate and mobilize your team, your vision will only be partially realized.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) skills are fundamental to those interpersonal and coaching skills and all of them can be strengthened, whatever level you find yourself at.

I work with leaders to grow these EQ skills, such as Empathy, Assertiveness, Flexibility and Emotional Awareness, so they can grow their capacity as a leader and make the impact they’re wanting through their vision.

If you’re a leader who has a vision and you’re possibly struggling with how to make it happen, learn more about EQ and EQ coaching and the difference it will make in you and your team.

Changing Your Beliefs

Changing Your Beliefs

In order to do something you’ve never done before, you have to be willing to break through a limiting belief you’ve never overcome before.

Our beliefs are the only thing standing in the way of our personal growth, how we want to show up and what we want to achieve in our life.  And our beliefs determine whether or not we think we deserve it and are worthy of it.

So what is it that you want and how would you rather be showing up in this world that’s a more authentic and powerful version of yourself? Then ask yourself honestly what do you really believe about yourself and how worthy you are?

If your beliefs are something around I’m not enough and who am I to deserve this success, then it’s around your beliefs where your work will begin.

Because it’s when we change our beliefs about ourselves, then our world opens up, the impossible becomes possible and we learn we truly are worthy and deserving of all our hopes, dreams and success.

Doing Whatever It Takes

Doing Whatever It Takes

Perseverance is doing whatever it takes to achieve your goal. Sometimes it’s hard, and sometimes it’s damn hard, but the key in those times is to not give up.

You have a dream, you have a vision, don’t give up on that. If the way you’re going about it isn’t working, get creative and find another way. Get resourceful, bring someone in who can help you overcome that challenge you face, like a fierce coach.

They won’t let you quit and they’ll remind you every step of the way that your dream, your vision is possible.

So don’t give up on this dream, this vision, it means too much to you. Persevere, do whatever it takes.

One Small Step Forward

One Small Step Forward

Sometimes when you’re amidst a very large complex challenge and you’re feeling overwhelmed, the best thing to do is to break it down into bite size chunks of action steps that you could do to start to solve the problem and overcome the challenge you’re in.

And then, take one small step forward. Because overcoming our challenges isn’t about solving it all in one go, it’s about slowly and strategically finding our way through, one step at a time, and always moving forward.

Challenge Your Perspective

Challenge Your Perspective

Our perspective really can’t change unless we challenge it. And the easiest way to do that is by sharing it with others. And by having the courage to share our perspective with others, we risk what they will think, what they will say and what they will think of us. But with this risk, we also find out if our perspective needs to be challenged or not.

Sometimes our perspective is a bunch of illogical thoughts based on fear and the past. And this is when it needs to be challenged and reworked to a new perspective based on real evidence and the present. If our perspective is received with interest and engagement and you feel power and energy when you share it, then most likely it’s coming from a place of purpose and alignment and it doesn’t need to change.

So regardless what your perspective is, it’s always worth sharing and challenging to make sure you’re aligned with your values and living from a place based on the present and real evidence, not from fear and the past.

Use Courage As A Platform

Use Courage As A Platform

Using courage as a platform to stand, our actions come from our deep rooted values and beliefs, something anchored inside of ourselves, instead of from fear, which is based on things outside of ourselves.

Living from fear closes us in from the past and future events that haven’t happened yet (and may never happen). Courage opens us up to unknown possibilities that are uncovered when we’re strong enough to stand from this place.

Strength Is The Gift From Challenges

Strength Is The Gift From Challenges

Strength is not something you’re born with, you have to build it.  And most of the time it’s built from overcoming difficult challenges, hard work and persevering over obstacles and through adversity.

So if things are hard right now or you’re in the middle of a challenge, just know that the gift and silver lining is the glorious strength you’ll gain through the process that will build your confidence and make you feel more at ease the next time a challenge comes along.

Embarking On A New Path

Embarking On A New Path

Embarking on a new path often feels like jumping off a cliff. You can see this grand vista below where you want to go and what you want to accomplish but it will take letting go of control, falling for a bit and trusting the process that you will land on your feet.

And if you don’t land on your feet, still trust the process that you’ll figure out a way to get back up. Because the real learning and growth isn’t from landing a perfect 10 it’s from figuring out how to get back up after you fall (fail).

So if you’re about to embark on a new path, quit hesitating and letting fear hold you back. Jump with both feet in and just trust the process.

Timing Is Everything

Timing Is Everything

Timing is everything and the universe delivers to you when you’re ready for it. The energy and effort that you put out there is precisely what you get back, and that’s what they mean by the universe delivering.

If you open your heart to love and put love out there, then you will receive it. If you offer compassion and empathy, then you will receive it. If you offer curiosity and understanding, then you will receive it.

In the moment it may feel like a coincidence, but I believe that it’s all about opportunities flying by and consistently showing up in line with your values and purpose. When those two collide, then you have perfect timing and a delivery from the universe.

That’s what I mean when I say, it’s all about timing and timing is everything.

Positive Reflection

Positive Reflection

As the year draws to a close, we often reflect on it, sometimes positively and sometimes negatively. We can be hard on ourselves about what we achieved and what we didn’t.

But I bet you, if you take a closer look, you’ll be surprised just how much you did achieve, what challenges you were able to overcome and how much you’ve grown.

And you might have to be gentle on yourself and have a more compassionate approach to see these things. But they’ll be there, and this, is a more productive and positive use of reflection.

Trying Something New

Trying Something New

Trying something new can feel like jumping off a cliff.

You’re leaving familiar ground and heading out into something unknown. And sometimes you have to fall and get to the bottom to experience the new thing or change. Sometimes it’s an awesome freefall, while other times it’s a terrifying drop with a hard landing. Either way, it’s a necessary path for moving forward and growing.

So regardless of the way you travel the path or how you experience the fall, you will go off a cliff AND the journey will be worthwhile. Because after all, if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.

Wander, Just Go For It

Wander, Just Go For It

Not all who wander are lost.

I’ve been exploring both the physical world and my internal world ever since I was a young person. And what I’ve discovered is that the more you explore, the more you learn that there is more to explore. It’s this amazing journey of expansion and discovery. And no matter what I find, I wouldn’t change it for anything.

So if you feel like wandering, go for it. Take a step, dive in, spread your wings, whatever it takes for you to open to what you don’t know yet.

Choose Resilience

Choose Resilience

Some flowers can bloom in the harshest conditions because it knows deep down that it’s made of the stuff to make it possible.

It knows it can endure, it knows it’s resilient and it has an unwavering faith about what it looks like on the other side when winter is over and the sun shines again.

If you could choose, why not be THAT flower? Why not choose resilience?

Dare To Be Great

Dare To Be Great

Dare to be great.

No really, I dare you. In my experience and from working with others, often what people fear more than failure is being great. It’s a crazy thing really but it’s real. And it butts heads against our limiting belief of ‘Am I good enough ‘ in order to be great and really own it.

What would be possible if you allowed yourself to just ‘be great’?

Accomplish Extraordinary Things

Accomplish Extraordinary Things

“People do not decide to become extraordinary. They decide to accomplish extraordinary things.”
~ Sir Edmond Hilary ~

Don’t just set your sites on something that makes you comfortable. Set your sights on something that scares you, that brings doubt whether you can accomplish it or not.

Those are the things that will grow you. Those are the things that will be extraordinary.
